Our new bird hive with "Molly" our new resident owl
Wood chippings for the path way
End to a fabulous day with Foresters Finance in our Community Forest with 27 bird boxes built and positioned. The smaller boxes are known to attract nuthatches, treecreepers, blue tits, great tits, wrens and others whilst the large boxes are for barn owls and tawny owls. As well as providing possible locations for nests, the birds also shelter in the boxes in the winter. Good work was also completed on the forest school area and the new bird hide and feeding station. We had over thirty volunteers helping and special thanks go to them all and to the Geldarts for coordinating the whole thing including an excellent lunch for the workers! We have named our resident hand-carved owl ‘Molly’ as our logo is the Moline Cross.
Twenty seven boxes will be built including fit barn owls, tawny owls and a wide variety of smaller birds. Help being provided by Foresters staff and clients together with Head Groundsman Dave Geldart and Outreach Manager Carole Frost
